Born of War plot
The Wakhan Corridor in Afghanistan, 1988. Daphne is a young English woman who is accused of murdering a boy from a local tribe during an invasion by a foreign power. She must flee and take on a new identity. 2011: Mina is a carefree young student until her parents are murdered. Only she and her younger sister survive, and are taken under protection. Then the truth is revealed: Mina's mother, Daphne, had a dark secret. Not only was Daphne charged with murder in 1988, but she also had an illegitimate and dangerous relationship with the tribe's leader. Mina is his daughter, and he wants her back. He now leads a group of rebels, and is responsible for the slaughter of many people, including Mina's parents. To protect her sister and herself, Mina must decide whether to fight or flee.
