Nice Bay.

Nice to see a really expensive blockbuster on Netflix, that's a type of film that they didn't really have on the shelf yet. No better figure than Michael Bay for such a job, he is one of the few who really visibly manages to do something with budget, without losing himself.

This film is vintage Bay, and he is clearly proud of that. The first 20 minutes opens with a fairly unparalleled action scene, one that unfortunately isn't surpassed further in the film, but it immediately sets the tone. Realism doesn't belong in this film, everything revolves around cool action. And rightly so, many a director (or say studio) who can take an example from that.

The action in Hong Kong and the fictional Turgistan (what was it?) may also be there, but they just don't really know how to get that adrenaline. Still a lot of nice and funny details, also surprisingly brutal by the way. That's something that's kind of new in Bay's movies. He clearly likes to make everything explode, seem less so.

The only downside I think is that Bay sometimes makes it a little too easy and sticks to his own style a little too well. I am thinking of action films such as Hardcore Henry, which more often sought out the edge of the familiar. But those who feel like a new Bay will absolutely not be disappointed in this film, because Netflix or not, as long as he can spend his money, he just does his thing. And that he does that very well.

3.5*

By far the most crappy movie of 2019 I've seen so far. It's an irritating sequence of ridiculous spectacle. Made it to the final credits with difficulty. I'll leave Michael Bay alone from now on.

I don't understand the criticism of this movie. You know you're going to watch an action movie through and through.

You can rarely expect good dialogues and good story, right?

Just enjoy action and effects.

This film has succeeded in that 100%. Top entertainment from the top shelf!

Just clear your mind and enjoy with a bag of popcorn.
