"The end is near."
When a series of earthquakes strike Los Angeles, scientist Emily theorizes that they are the omens of a catastrophic earthquake that will plunge the entire city into a lava-filled chasm. Engineer Jack, whose company is responsible for the fracking earthquakes, feels obliged to help. Together with Emily, he tries to reroute the epicenter to a less populated area and potentially save millions of lives.

"Don't worry. The worst is behind us."
Opening a movie about earthquakes with a (solo) game of Jenga. 
The scientist competing for a spot on Beauty & the Nerd.
Other funny notes such as:
- "How can you be so heartless?" "Years of practice".
- "Horrible. For everyone in LA. Except for you." "Why?" "You just got a promotion."
- "What was the last one? A shark hurricane?" "You have no idea how close this came."
Which word was too difficult to understand? Fracture? Pelvis? The?
- "It's just Long Beach. Who will miss that?"
- The scene where those two are stopped by an officer on a motorcycle.
- "Hail Mary, full of grace." "Since when have you been praying?" "Just started."
- "Follow dog shit or you? I see little difference." "Good luck staying alive."
There was certainly some pretty palatable humor in it.
Otherwise, it's a bit like in the movie Shockwave: fighting back by causing some shaking yourself. The film world certainly hasn't been shaken to its foundations by unleashing this offspring upon us. But it did cause a few tremors of laughter. At times, it was actually top-notch comedy! I do miss comedy in the genre designation, though.
