James Gunn has allegedly found his Lex Luthor for Superman: Legacy - Nicholas Hoult.
Following the restructuring of DC Comics at the creative and executive level, any plans for Man of Steel star Henry Cavill to return as Superman were scrapped despite his cameo appearance at the end of Black Adam.
David Corenswet was eventually cast for a fresh take on Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan joining as Lois Lane.
The official premise of Superman: Legacy reads:
'Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.'
Deadline reports that Hoult has been offered the role of Superman's arch-nemesis. He originally auditioned for Clark Kent but impressed enough that Gunn was keen to offer him Luthor.
Hoult is no stranger to comic book movies, having appeared as Beast in the X-Men prequel franchise.
Porn star Johnny Sins will not play Lex Luthor
One man who certainly won't be playing Luthor is porn star Johnny Sins who, to be fair, does bear a striking resemblance to the comic book villain.
Twitter page Le Cinephiles shared a fake story confirming the above... and people believed it.
Gunn has actually had to respond to the rumours. When asked if Sins had been cast, the director responded:
"Oh my God, you can't possibly believe that."
Sins is a veteran actor, though, having appeared in such iconic features like Let's Play Doctor, Big Butts Like it Big, Cheerleaders and My Dad's Hot Girlfriend.
