'A dutiful damsel agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to discover it was all a trap: the royal family recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. She is then thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, having to solely rely on her wits and will to survive.'
It stars Brown, Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, Ray Winstone, Nick Robinson, Brooke Carter, and Shohreh Aghdashloo.
The movie has actually been ready for release for some time and was initially scheduled to hit Netflix in October of 2023. However, due to the actor and writer strike preventing promotional activities, the release date has been pushed back to early 2024.
Judging from the trailer, and with a $70 million budget, this one looks pretty epic in scale. Brown will, of course, be used to battling CGI creatures thanks to her role as Eleven on Stranger Things.
"It’s a thrilling adventure with a really dark twist to put you on the edge of your seat," Fresnadillo said in a statement.
"As a filmmaker, one of the things I always want to do is surprise the audience with a new take on a story. Especially this kind of traditional story – we have to modernize those tales with new takes, more modern and real ways, to connect with the audience."
