A new Iron Man video game is being developed by Electronic Arts and Motive Studio.
The character most recently featured in Marvel's Avengers which was released on PlayStation 4, Stadia, Windows, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Iron Man / Tony Stark was a playable character but he had to share game time with the likes of Hulk, Captain America and Thor.
EA has confirmed that the game will feature a "new narrative" which suggests the plot will be something we haven't seen before, at least in the Avengers or Iron Man movie franchises.
"Developed in collaboration with Marvel Games, the game will feature an original narrative that taps into the rich history of Iron Man, channeling the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark, and enabling players to feel what it’s like to truly play as Iron Man," the announcement read.
"Motive Studio brings their talent and excitement for creating fan-favorite worlds for players to explore and be their own hero, with experience developing titles like Star Wars™: Squadrons and the upcoming Dead Space remake on January 27, 2023."
Olivier Proulx, who worked on the Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game, will be the lead developer and he is joined by industry experts including Ian Frazier, Maëlenn Lumineau, and JF Poirier.
A new story for Tony Stark
Prouix has revealed that Motive Studios have been given plenty of freedom to create their own universe and story for Tony Stark.
“It’s an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to make a video game based on one of the most iconic Super Heroes in entertainment today,” he said
“We have a great opportunity to create a new and unique story that we can call our own. Marvel is encouraging us to create something fresh. We have a lot of freedom, which is so engaging for the team.”
Iron Man was famously played on-screen by Robert Downey Jr, while Nolan North provided his voice for Marvel's The Avengers.
