Michael Keaton was apprehensive for years about returning as Beetlejuice
Over the couple of decades since Beetlejuice was released, it seems Keaton softened his stance on returning as the character.
“We (Keaton and Tim Burton) thought, ‘You got to get this right. Otherwise, just don’t do it. Let’s just go on with our lives and do other things.’" he told People.
"So I was hesitant and cautious, and he was probably equally as hesitant and cautious over all these years. Once we got there, I said, ‘Okay, let’s just go for it. Let’s just see if we can do it, if we can pull this off.'”
Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian
In the early 1990s, a script was produced for a sequel titled Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian.
It would have seen the Deetz family from the original movie move to Hawaii, with father Charles developing a holiday resort on an ancient burial ground which summons a malevolent spirit.
The Deetz family would have summoned Beetlejuice to help them out.
