The Manchurian Candidate (2004) is een aardige politieke thriller. Hoewel het verhaal behoorlijk ongeloofwaardig en vergezocht is, maken de vakkundige regie en sterke acteerprestaties veel goed. Vooral Meryl Streep is weer in topvorm.

Turkeyloverz tipte mij The Butterfly Effect. Bijzonder goed verhaal. Ondanks de mogelijke valkuilen, blijft deze fantasie in elk opzicht geloofwaardig en plausibel. Alleen jammer van dat happy end. Een rampzalige afloop had deze film pas echt meesterlijk gemaakt.

En jij moet er nog een heleboel zien natuurlijk.

Ik had eerst niet zo'n zin om The Insider te kijken, maar ik ben heel blij dat ik het wel heb gedaan. Het is een film met een zeer interessant onderwerp. Daarnaast alle lof voor Russel Crowe en Al Pacino die hier geweldig acteren. Soms een beetje aparte muziek, maar het werkt wel. Top! 4,5* voor 13woutie13. Nog één te gaan.

2,90* voor Angel Heart van Reinbo. Best een aardig filmpje met een sterke sfeer, maar het verhaal en de ontknoping is uiteindelijk redelijk voorspelbaar.
