Het begrip fantasy in de breedste zin van het woord. Ik zou in de toekomst graag meer films in de stijl van Lord of the Rings zien, maar helaas is het nog steeds een groot risico om dat soort films te maken, wanneer er wordt gekeken naar producten als Eragon. Het respect voor Peter Jackson groot dan ook met de dag.

Heb een stevig zwak voor het genre wanneer het elementen betreft die origineel en prikkelend zijn. Heb een enorme hekel aan het genre wanneer het gaat over uitgekauwde zooi. Fantasy moet de fantasie van de kijker prikkelen, iets wat een film als LOTR totaal niet kan. Vind het overbodig en saai.

Heb wel een zwak voor dit genre en met de Star Wars films in het bijzonder.Maar in dit lijstje ook heel weining gezien, in iedergeval weer een paar titels gezien die mijn aandacht trekken.

Veel van gezien, Star Wars moet ik eens herzien, verwacht niet dat het hoger zal uitpakken. Verder kan het een leuk genre zijn, maar ook erg middelmatig.

Dit genre is wel aan Dragje besteed, doch eerder in boekvorm dan film. Als kind menig fantasieboek verslonden en later de beroemde Foundation (moderne) klassiekers van Asimov. Vance, Clarke, Heinlein, van Vogt voegden zich al snel toe tot het rijtje schrijvers aan wie ik veel aandacht schonk. J.R.R. Tolkien als kind talloze keren gelezen. Ik heb op zekere hoogte zelfs mijn beroep aan deze schrijvers te danken.

Veel aandacht voor de Han Solo's, Harry's en harige Hobbits wat gezien de impact van de betreffende films niet zo verwonderlijk is. Doch kan ik ieder de film 'Guerre du Feu, La (1981)' aanraden.

In deze 'holbewoners' film portretteren de behaarde mannekes geen Bergman familiedrama maar wel een 'serieuze' benadering van hoe het leven als holbewoner er aan toe ging. Het betreft een aaneenschakeling van interpretaties wat op zichzelf niet verwonderlijk is omdat niet zo gek veel bekend is van het tijdperk waar civilisatie nog aan de wieg stond van verdere ontwikkeling.

Verwacht ook geen socratisch gesprek want verder dan "hurmpf" en wat gegrom kan men van een Neanderthaler niet verwachten. Echter, wat oogt als banaal ontspant zich al snel als een zeer amusante en bij tijd ook ontroerende film die 'oer'-oude taferelen ophoest die zelfs vandaag de dag nog herkenbaar zijn.

Absoluut een aanrader.

Het meest verwacht ik van The Science of Sleep. Der Himmel über Berlin in bezit.

Bij vlagen leuk genre, maar toch lang niet altijd even geslaagd, maar ook weer zelden slecht. Sommige films in deze lijst slaan nergens op (Batman Begins?) en vreemd dat de slechtste Harry Potterfilm het hoogst staat.

Streef er absoluut naar alle films uit de lijst ooit gezien te hebben Wel jammer van de Potters in de lijst trouwens en eigelijk kan ik BB moeilijk fantasy noemen. Daarnaast is het natuurlijk ook idioot dat de orginele King-Kong er niet in staat in plaats van de remake.
