The Possession of Michael King plot

"If you invite it in, it will never let you go."

Documentary maker Michael King does not believe in God or the devil. After the sudden death of his wife, he decides to make a film about the search for the supernatural, in which he himself is the center of the experiment. Demonologists, necromancers and various practitioners of the occult try all sorts of spells and rituals on him in the hope that they will fail and thus finally provide proof that religion, spiritism and the paranormal are nothing more than a myth.

A skeptical man, still grieving over a lost love.

Who wants to tempt fate and can't go far enough.

He will know that too.

Stands well above average.

Completely unlike any other paranormal activity.

So good.nice and short, good game

A filmmaker with a traumatic loss goes in search of answers. He does so in documentary style and in the paranormal world. A tour of a number of remarkable people from the field provides dark and sometimes hilarious film material. Excellent original start. The tone is set. Intriguing. Excellent approach.

Then the sequel. The decline of the main character that is not subtly, but rather dirty and graphically portrayed. Recognizable for the genre. Back to square one. Too bad, I think. Nothing remains of the original approach.

Furthermore, there are many jerky and flickering images (annoying and nerve-racking).

In between there are a few good scares and Johnson who gives a convincing lead role.

Certainly not wrong, but with a caveat.

Starts off a bit dubious, but once Michael King's transformation starts it's quite an enjoyable film. The whole vlog idea works well, even though it's not new, and some scenes are still quite creepy. But you get the feeling that much more could have been gotten out of this film. There are few real standouts and it's all quite tame. Jung could have been a bit more daring. Now it's mainly messing around with sounds, but you don't get to see much.

3*
