When Frankie's squirrel escapes from the 'rehabilitation zoo', he returns to the woods. His friend, the porcupine Cody, tells him that during his absence all the acorns have disappeared. The entire forest has been cleared by the so-called ACORN institute. With winter approaching, Frankie decides to visit the culprits.
