Serious contender for my personal top 10 of 2015. Superb acting performances from the entire cast with Clive Owen, Morgan Freeman and especially Aksel Hennie in the role of villain as the stars. I like historical films especially when justice triumphs over injustice. This film reminds me strongly of Braveheart and comes pretty close in terms of quality. The fact that the film is dark is not an issue for me. In those days there was no electricity or light bulbs, so what? 5 stars

You can expect more from a film with a cast like this. The story is pretty weak and the actors can't do much with that apparently. However, well dressed with some beautiful settings and cinematography. But it ripples a little further and never really hits. Not surprisingly, too. Too bad, because you can see that the film has more potential. Underlying the actors also have little chemistry with each other. Like they know it's just a snack.
