Black cop Russell Steven is hired by an agent of an anti-drug team to infiltrate a drug traffickers organization. To keep his identity a secret, Steven must go further and further: he is forced to deal drugs and commit murders. When he crosses the line between good and bad, he gets into trouble.

Fishburne in one of his very first leads. He is assigned to go undercover to dismantle a drug network. The character Stevens is developed quite well; I don't really find this a cliché character as mentioned above but rather an individual who is plagued by his conscience and the choices he has to make, but also by the violent death of his father. . An unexpected role by Jeff Goldblum as a lawyer-drug dealer and I thought he was good in his role. Relatively unknown film, which was nevertheless well received, but overshadowed by much better genre films and with a voice-over that didn't really seem necessary to me... As Zinema says: not high-quality but perfectly digestible.

Nice film in which a cop goes undercover and deals drugs in order to catch the big players. It is all a bit clichéd (the course and the characters), but it is easy to watch. A few nice action scenes and Laurence Fishburne and Jeff Goldblum are well cast. Clearly a product of its time (the decor, music and the editing here and there).

Great crime drama in which the title already indicates what it is about: cop Larry Fishburne goes undercover in the drug world. In all respects it is a dark film: the tone of the colors, lighting, characters. The music is by Michel Colombier and seems like it was made by a black R&B producer. Speaking of black artists: the film is also historic because Dr Dre and Snoop Doggy Dog made their first musical outing here with a contribution to the soundtrack.
The story is well developed, performed by strong actors and has some gripping scenes.
