L'Homme du Large plot
Hardworking Breton fisherman Nolff (Roger Karl) is happy. His wife has just given birth to a son, Michel (Jaque Catelain). Nolff is determined to raise his son as a free man and a fisherman. His greatest wish is for his son to become just like him. However, Michel grows up to be a good-for-nothing and is seduced by city life. He spends his days in the pub with his friend Gwenn la Taupe (Charles Boyer). This is much to the dismay of his father.
