Disappointment from Yuen.

In any case, I find Li as a gunman somewhat less interesting. Becomes painfully clear when you compare the earlier action scenes with the great final scene. Lots of missed opportunities.

Story is not too captivating and Li as an over-serious bodyguard does not do too well either. Typical camera work for a Yuen film, gives his films that little bit extra, but it is rarely really beautiful.

Fortunately the film is not too long and the ending still makes up for it, otherwise this would have been a serious drama. Now it is still quite bearable, but still very disappointing for duo Yuen/Li.

Seen on the new uncut 4K release from 88Films with DolbyVision.

In America and England this was released as “The Defender”. After Fong Sai-Yuk 1&2, which also recently got a beautiful 4K release from 88Films, the third collaboration between Corey Yuen and Jet Li.

Mediocre loose remake of “The Bodyguard '92” with Kevin Costner. In this story Jet Li has to protect Christy Chung, who is a key witness to a murder. The finale against Collin Chou is the highlight of the film. I have seen better from Jet Li.
