Reisen til Julestjernen plot
14-year-old Sonja tries to escape a gang of thieves. She hides in the king's palace and secretly listens in to the prince who tells a sad story. His daughter, Princess Goldhair, has disappeared after trying to search for the Christmas star through the dark forest. Seized by his grief, the king curses the object of her quest. Only if someone manages to find the poinsettia before Christmas can Goldhair return home. Sonja decides to help the king.

A fun children's/family/fairy tale film with beautiful visuals about a land where the king lost his daughter shortly after birth by cursing the Christmas star, causing it to disappear from the sky. The film's lead actress embarks on an adventurous quest to find the star, and thus the princess, with the help of a gnome. A fun, cheerful Christmas film and beautifully made; the budget was clearly generous. 3.5*

Beautiful to watch, but the story isn't as captivating and magical as I expected. It could have used a bit more Christmas atmosphere; now it reads more like a Grimm fairy tale. The child actress playing Goldilocks looks sheepish. At 75 minutes long, it's also short, and you don't get much chance to get annoyed.
