Madame Satã plot
"Hustler, dreamer, devil, saint"
Madama Satâ is about the life of the Brazilian street fighter and drag queen João Francisco dos Santos, who died in 1976. Long before the overt fitness and trava culture of the past few decades, this muscular and capoeira-trained, controversial underground legend became a Brazilian icon of gay pride. The film is set in the 1930s in Rio de Janeiro. Working as a waiter and cook by day, Dos Santos divides his free time between criminal activity and a bisexual love triangle. Dos Santos dreams of a better and more elegant life and is fascinated by the beautiful costumes and the glamor of the transvestite. His life takes a drastic turn when he succeeds in acting as a drag queen.
