Worthy continuation of "L'auberge Espagnole" and "Les poupées Russes" with (too) crazy situations, but if "your life doesn't run from A to B" then a lot can happen.

Cédric Klapisch, however, provides a solid portion of humor, so that it all cannot really be taken "au seriously".

Fortunately, because after an hour of watching, the film sags a bit, and we have seen the best of the adventures of a Parisian in New York, China.

Romain Duris, Audrey Tautou, Cécile de France and Kelly Reilly play as could be expected of them, namely very neat and convincing in their roles.

The colorful, multicultural society in the big city and very special laws and customs that prevail there are appropriately addressed and form a funny background.

The better relaxing comedy with fragments of morals and conditions from our contemporary social life.

A writer is divorced. His wife and children move to New York. And so he moves from Paris to New York. The story itself runs smoothly, just like the film that looks quite nice and knows how to captivate. Still, I also feel like there was more to get out of the film. Maybe a little more emotion and involvement. It all comes across as too fleeting and superficial and that somehow doesn't suit this film. I give it three stars because the film runs smoothly and is nicely acted by many nice actors and actresses. But in terms of feeling I would like to give him less, because the film also leaves me unsatisfied somewhere.

In this final part of the Klapisch trilogy, Xavier's life at 40 is not what he had hoped. In the meantime he lives separately from redhead Wendy and followed her to New York so as not to lose sight of his two children. He again has a lot of concerns around his head, including finding work and obtaining American citizenship are high on the agenda.

I thought this one was better than Les Poupées Russes. That's because the tone here is slightly closer to L'Auberge Espagnole. The crazy situations have been brought a little better, the humor was more to my taste and towards the end there is a well-aimed nod to the first film. Audrey Tautou, the big absentee from Les Poupées Russes, gets more space again, which I also thought was a plus. Klapisch consistently continues to use his own fresh style and this closing can therefore be called quite successful. These are three films that I thoroughly enjoyed. I think one of the secrets is that Xavier is an imperfect character who makes many mistakes and whose life doesn't turn out the way he wants. Like Xavier, we spend much of our lives learning to deal with who we are.

PS / The TV series Salade Grecque has recently become available on Amazon Prime (8 parts) about the children of Xavier (say L'Auberge Espagnole, the next generation).
