Op een Avond in Mei plot
Peter Gruber, a young Viennese tenor, is in love with Daisy, the daughter of a dentist to whom he gives piano lessons. He gets a job in Antwerp and Daisy travels after him. Disguised as an American, she manages to secure a place in Gruber's orchestra. Daisy's father anxiously follows his daughter, accompanied by a Miss Lola, whom he falls in love with.
