The third Eli Roth film I've seen and also the only one that gets a pass from me. The amount of gore was to be expected but you get used to it. Attractive woman by the way Justine. Painted by those Indians she looked pretty cool although there was some prudishness in those scenes. Always a downside for me.
Although this cannibal film was certainly not bad, it really couldn't match the horror/western Bone Tomahawk (2015), but for Deodato's Cannibal Holocaust The Inferno was certainly not inferior if we at least ignore the score because it was super in CH and nothing at all in this film.

3.0*

boring start,

The beginning takes quite a long time and when you think of now it's going to start it still doesn't start. You have horror movies where you really get right into the action and excitement or where you have a little bit of intro and then it starts. Unfortunately, this is not the case with this film. Although the beginning does turn out to be interesting in some small parts. After the plane crash it seems like everyone is a bit lost and starts acting badly and performing very stupid actions.

When they end up in that tribe there is an immediate brutal kill that grabbed me for a while. After that there are a number of clamping kills, but the very first one is really the most brutal. I was still wondering where that girl suddenly was who escaped. Dead? I was still undecided if I might have seen her on one of those spears as they headed back to the crashed plane. I also thought the ending was quite meh. The girl defends those cannibals, but I thought they would find those murdered people at the plane crash anyway.. I also wondered all the time if that one boy still survived in the end. I really hope not Boring start, pretty strong middle and a meh ending.

Justine [Lorenza] is persuaded by Alejandro [Ariel Levy], the leader of activist group ACT, to join a protest in the Peruvian Amazon against the encroachment of an indigenous tribe. During the return trip, the plane crashes into the jungle and that is the starting signal for a modern version of cannibal films such as Cannibal Holocaust and Cannibal Ferox. The limbs are flying around you ( if you like that) and from that moment on there is no more story. The native extras don't really make an enthusiastic impression, but those who are satisfied with explicit images of dismemberments and evisceration have come to the right place. And the hypocritical epilogue is a bit of a shame.
