A somewhat quirky film that has a nice premise, but the execution doesn't really stick.

I can't put my finger on it exactly, but I think it is due to the somewhat confused way of telling the story and the fact that the film seems to waver between a somewhat tepid drama (a frustrated woman looking for tension outside her exhausted marriage) and a non- so-funny comedy with slightly strange characters.

There are some scenes and characters that I don't really think fit in the film. These are little things that get a little too much attention and that distract from what the film is actually about. For example, I find the role of the psychiatrist and Rachel's group of friends quite a disturbing factor in the film.

Not that it can be called a bad film, but the road to it is not always fun or well mapped out. In any case, it didn't bother me that much.

Psychological drama about a bored housewife, who, looking for some excitement and distraction in her life, befriends a stripper and takes him in. One very penetrating experience later, she has lost her way, to her own detriment and shame, dragging her husband and the stripper along in her slipstream.
A film that occasionally fades away, but with a varied story and fascinating performances by Kathryn Hahn and especially Juno Temple, who is perfect for this type of role.

The unbearable lightness of being, yes, but what exactly. It doesn't come across as a big deal, other than Kathryn Hahn's character is looking for something, and thinks she can find it in Juno Temple's life. Wow, how would that end?

I didn't think it was all that great, nor was it particularly special. Still, it looks nice, and every now and then there is a joke that does work, although it is mainly situational. It's a pity that there isn't just a little more line in it, then I might have remembered something in a few weeks.
