Die Wunderbare Lüge der Nina Petrowna plot

Nina Petrowna (Brigitte Helm) is a young mistress of Colonel Beranoff (Warwick Ward) in pre-revolutionary Saint Petersburg. One evening at a nightclub, a young lieutenant, Michael Rostof (Francis Lederer), catches her eye. The Colonel is not happy about this, and states that she must leave behind all the expensive gifts such as jewelry, fur coats and money, which she has received from the Colonel if she decides to continue with the Lieutenant. Nina eventually chooses Michael and they rent a cheap house, but after a while they can no longer pay the rent. Michael tries to make money by cheating at the gambling, but the Colonel also sits at the table and discovers his deception...
