Nude Area plot
'Nude Area' is a portrait of female seduction. Naomi is a sixteen-year-old Dutch girl from the chic Amsterdam South. She has a crush on Fama, also sixteen years old, a beautiful Arab girl who lives in a poor neighborhood in Amsterdam-East. During a magical summer in Amsterdam, the two girls play an emotional game of love, seduction and attraction.

There is no better way to learn the craft of film directing than by forcing yourself to tell a story without dialogue, using only visual means. Sammy Boonstra plays the role of Naomi, whose eye falls on Fama [Imaan Hammam] during a tram ride in Amsterdam. The film follows Naomi's attempts to discover whether the attraction is mutual and whether her feelings can be reciprocated in another way. Many telling looks that often say exactly the same thing. Antoniak is more interested in all kinds of asides loosely related to her main characters and seems almost obsessed with the soundtrack. It comes into its own in a room with a good sound system or when you listen to the film (like me) with headphones. But even then, this as a whole does not make much of an impression.
