The Gene Krupa Story plot

"He hammered out the savage tempo of the jazz era!"

Since childhood, Gene Krupa has wanted to become a drummer and make music. However, Gene's parents are not pleased with this. They want him to become a priest. When Gene's father dies, he promises to enter the priesthood. Gene soon realizes this isn't for him, then leaves and joins his friend Eddie Sirota's band. Eddie's friend Ethel Maguire convinces Gene to go to New York to make it happen.
