A sympathetic film that made me laugh out loud at times. The fact is of course too stupid for words, but it is an ideal set-up for a motley collection of absurd characters who fortunately are never faint and remain human.

Kevin James actually makes an Adam Sandler movie here, but does it a lot better than Adam Sandler himself. His character is nice and cynical but never forced. The old Henry Winkler is still charming and complements James strongly and Salma Hayek also fits perfectly into the film.

Of course it is much too American here and there and the Glee epidemic comes along very briefly, but if you want to enjoy a positive and uncomplicated film with your mind at zero then this is an absolute must. Even if you're not into martial arts at all.

Good.

Cliches abound in this comedy that even so lightly aims more at emotion than

on the smile. The commitment also says enough: Is serious when Kevin James does everything he can to

to prevent a music teacher at a school from losing his job due to budget cuts

touch. Kevin James comes across effortlessly in his lead role and appears to be ideally cast. With a nice

role also of the Fonz Henry Winkler. The film tends a little too much towards cheap in the long run

sentimental but is mostly sympathetic from start to finish. The fights in the ring were

not so much special but looked pretty good. In that regard, there was also

certainly no laziness on the part of the director. All together I thought this was one

successful film, good for pleasant, carefree viewing pleasure.

Friendly.

Kevin James. It's still a bit of an actor for me. Typically someone who can act well, but mainly limits himself to having fun with friends, but in front of the camera. I think he can play really strong roles, and in this movie he can finally show some more sentimental sides.

Coraci is a special director. His heart is clearly in making simple comedies, but often there is something more to it. He also sometimes adds some sentiment. The smiles should continue to dominate, but his films require just a little more from the cast and I can appreciate that. Not that Here Comes the Boom is a sentimental masterpiece, but it is just a bit more qualitative.

The film starts out as a very typical James comedy. After about 30 minutes, however, the sympathetic tendencies start to kick in and the film spins slowly. There are still a lot of characters who behave retarded and take away sentiment, but time is also invested in treating some background. This will eventually give you empathy for James, which is nice.

Furthermore, a film that unfortunately is sometimes too afraid to really go into a dramatic direction, so when it threatens to get too heavy, Coraci quickly adjusts. It ended up being an entertaining movie. A very sweet, predictable film, but it is good to watch. It's not really hilarious, but it's a better movie than I could have dreamed of.
