When the skipper of a lifeboat (Heston) wants to salvage the wreck of the Mary Deare, the captain (Gary Cooper) is unexpectedly still on board. During the rest of the film, he tries to prove that he is not guilty of negligence.

Good film in which a lifeboat skipper enters an apparently abandoned ship. The first part at sea could easily have been shortened somewhat, but the special effects are fun to see and can still be used well. An excellent second half that keeps you wondering what the main character continues to keep hidden. And Gary Cooper knows how to portray this well.
