The Lady of Scandal plot

Lord John Teylesmore falls in love with the famous actress Elsie Hilary. He forces the impediments to their marriage by publishing their engagement. John then plans to take Elsie to his father's estate to meet his family. His father, Lord Willie 'Craley' Crayle, has gathered his immediate family to discuss ways to prevent John from marrying below his means. When the family meets Elsie, they are all shocked that she is a commoner. Except cousin Edward, the Duke of Warrington.
