Crazy Aylmer. A slimy alien-like leech who sounds like a man from an ancient musical. Great how he greets his new host. Hi! He promises euphoria for Brian who greedily takes it and during a trance picks up a willing girl, who can't help but feel what kind of monster our hero has hanging down there. A closer inspection turns out to be a bit different than she might have expected. A bit early for the most hilarious scene of this kind of nonsense, but oh well. There is still more crazy horror fun to be had in this one from Henenlotter. One in which Aylmer quickly grows into a cult hero. Uh-oh, Brian! Now you're really losing your mind!

Lame horror film that is sometimes fun in terms of effects and the interaction between Brian/the parasite, but generally has little to offer. The characters and the story are not interesting and exciting is the least. Pure pulp! 4/10

This is great nonsense. Not that the wormy parasite was so successful, I did like the general atmosphere of the film. Apparently there are some similarities with Basket case that I had not seen before (but that will change soon).

A nice 80s vibe in New York, the grimy alleys, cheap hotels and bleak neighborhoods. The film doesn't really take itself seriously with Eylmer in the lead, cool how he addresses Brian and makes him dependent on him. Because of the comic note, the film can hardly be called scary. A bit of a shame perhaps that the kills are quite the same.

And you do feel sorry for Brian. A drug addict, but without drugs. His dependency on Eylmer is enormous and I thought the scene in that dirty hotel room was quite strong. That blowjob was quite original. Here and there a nice idea, but we shouldn't make much more of it. A close 3.0*.
