Habibi Rasak Kharban plot
Habibi places an old Arabic folk tale about the forbidden love between two students in modern times. At university in the West Bank, the dreamy Qays and the beautiful Layla fall for each other's charms. When their student visas are revoked, they return to their conservative Palestinian hometown. In order to marry his beloved Layla, Qays needs money for the dowry. But because he was unable to graduate, he now lives with his poor father in a refugee camp. With a job in construction he tries to scrape together some money. Meanwhile, he expresses his love for Layla by writing poems on the dividing walls in the Palestinian village. His nighttime poetry escapades endanger not only himself, but also Layla, whose reputation is at stake. Layla hopes to continue her studies and eventually be with Qays. However, her parents and brother have other plans for her future.
