The sound Anneliese Michel produces is truly too scary for words, also because one knows that this was real. The film, on the other hand, was very weak and very banal; the German doctor, in particular, was a joke.

yank yank yank, at first I thought: This might actually turn into something... but nothing could be further from the truth!!!

The "original" band sounds actually come across as quite creepy... but the acting is just so exceptionally bad that I can't even give it a point.

There is no clear storyline in the narrative, and it is really just a lot of shouting. Which ultimately resulted in me turning the volume down a bit.

The "docementary" idea is very poorly executed and does not come across well at all.

What remains is a meager 0.5* for just the tape (voice) recording... but then you'd be better off listening to the original tape recording on YouTube... the same result and perhaps even a bit scarier than the whole film put together....

A sometimes unintentionally hilarious but remarkably consistent entrant in the Paranormal Entity series, produced by The Asylum. With a name like that, you shouldn't expect too high quality, and Anneliese: The Exorcist Tapes isn't one that delivers that either, but the convincing acting and sometimes eerie tone go quite far. On the positive side, director Jude Gerard Prest shows a great deal of dedication in capturing the relevant time period and goes much further than other pulp films in creating a documentary-like feel. However, too much time is devoted to the audio recordings, which come across more as a sort of ASMR phenomenon than as terrifying attempts at realism. Furthermore, the jump scares are very limited and it all gets off to a slow start, but it is considerably more engaging than its predecessors.
