Retired CIA agent Paul Shepherdson (Gere) is put back to work by young, ambitious FBI agent Ben Geary (Grace) to solve the mysterious murder of a US senator. The former CIA agent is implicated in the murder case because of his extensive knowledge of an ex-Russian hitman named "Cassius" (Moyer) whose method is identical to the murder of the senator. This gives Agent Shepherdson one last chance to catch this notorious killer who has avoided arrest for years.

hmm.
This isn't a very good movie, though, and I didn't have high expectations for it. Typical RTL7 feed where it was nice that Topher Grace also played in it. Grace was also the only reason I took him from the TV.
Story is still nice to follow in the first hour, to finally collapse in the last half hour. But that doesn't change the fact that it wasn't a tiring 98 minutes. The story was captivating enough for the first hour.
Gere, meanwhile, is slowly taking the path to a Cage & Willis career. Less and less roles, increasingly lesser roles. However, this one still fits. He also knows how to hold his own. Grace is not very suitable for more serious work, but still manages to get along pretty solidly.
It has little to do with directing. Weird soundtrack at times and clumsy chases in the first half hour. Feels very much like a TV movie. You see few highlights. Classic camera work. What an empty color scheme. Less acting from side characters.
But in the end that doesn't give too much reason not to rate it insufficiently. Because where the story still had some hold in the first hour, the sloppiness piled up in the last half hour. Twists that are not substantiated anywhere, clumsy fights. Clichés that are very prominent.
Not the best film, but it is entertaining and has good acting from Gere and Grace. Another 2.5* for that.
