“Go to work and have a fun.”

Serbuan Maut is a great action spectacle. The film actually has everything an action movie needs, from the wonderfully choreographed fight scenes and the shootings, to the claustrophobic setting. There is an oppressive and chilling atmosphere throughout the film. The story is really just an excuse to have as many fights and shootings as possible in a large apartment complex, and that's how I like to see these kinds of movies.

Police against gangsters, sometimes it doesn't have to be made more difficult. At some point, you'll be knocked down, but director Gareth Evans knows how to keep it more than entertaining. Especially Iko Uwais goes wild in his stylish and inventive fight scenes. Yayan Ruhain is also a great little long-haired bad guy, who can easily beat anyone. The last scene with Uwais, Ruhain and Joe Taslim is a highlight.

great movie.

Anyway, I always like the idea of doing just one thing, and doing it really, really well. Always better than trying a lot and then just rushing it all so-so. The setting in the flat works perfectly for the concept, the dingy and dark atmosphere enhances the claustrophobic setting. And then the mats, a long time ago that I came across a film that could make such an impression. And also a long time since I laughed at the credits of the movie - not every actor brings it to a character with a name, so to speak. And for the few who manage to do that - Uwais and Ruhian first - it is really hard work.

Nicely made, original, and the way the movie came about is a simplified, cheaper version of what the original plan was… very, very good.

More than a big action film that needs little introduction or dialogue or depth, and soon the unity is in the shit.

An extremely interesting and captivating battle ignites between the unhinged criminals and the cops. An image that initially reminds me a lot of Dredd, where the top criminal to be caught also calls out to attack the 'cops'. In Dredd, the entire building is behind them, just like here. The film also ignites as a very interesting action spectacle with the necessary martial arts fight scenes and the necessary firefights, all convincingly presented, although the editing is sometimes less and the images too jerky. Something that in itself is not particularly detrimental since it is only a relatively short film and therefore it will not irritate. Furthermore, there is little story in itself, whether it must be the plot of the two brothers or the corrupt cop, but it does not have much depth. Something that in this case is not necessary or disturbing.

Serbuan Maut is doing wonderfully with the direct approach and knows how to convince with the directness, the pace and the solid action and excellent tense moments such as with the false wall. I think the soundtrack fits well with it, others don't like it, but I think it fits in terms of tempo and style quite well. Nice and very entertaining action film for those who like that.
