Salmon Fishing in the Yemen plot
"Make the Improbable Possible"
Alfred Jones (Ewan McGregor) is a fisheries scientist who, while employed by the government, is given the seemingly impossible task of introducing salmon to the highlands of Yemen. Encouraged by the client, a sympathetic Sheikh, and his charming spokeswoman Harriet Chetwode – Talbot (Emily Blunt), this will be a project that will ultimately change not only Jones' life, but British political history as well.

Nice how Ewan McGregor plays a somewhat autistic dull nerd opposite the beautiful and elegant Emily Blunt as stiff but charming dad . Interaction between the two works very well and that is certainly the director's credit.
Between all that blockbuster violence that rolls out of the Hollywood factories, this is a small and intimate production, but one that will leave you sleeping with a smile after seeing it.

Tried this one and I didn't like it. I didn't really know what to expect, but it kept me interested. The acting was good and the movie looked good.
Not a waw movie, but not bad either, fine for a lazy movie night.

I am a fan of Hallström's per se. His light-hearted work is often supported by beautiful images, which creates poetic feelings. That feel-good atmosphere was hardly noticeable here. This film is largely plot driven and leaves little room for warmth. The "romance" between McGregor and Blunt seems to have been dragged in a bit and never feels like truth for a moment.
It does look nice, but Hallström can do much better.
