"The Life of the Party... before she got a life."
Gwen Cummings is a successful New York writer who has a wild nightlife pattern. She shows up in all the trendy clubs and can be found at every party in an inebriated state. Her life takes a radical turn when she goes completely crazy at her sister Lily's wedding. She is sentenced to 28 days of drug addiction treatment in rehab. Gwen has to adhere to a strict schedule full of rules and agreements. She soon comes into conflict with herself and all the other patients. But the cynical Gwen won't resign herself to the normal course of things at the institute.

A film that proves once again that alcohol and drugs only lead to more problems.
This applies to persons who handle this irresponsibly.
Sandra Bullock stars as the addict Gwen Cummings who ruins her sister's wedding by knocking over the cake.
On her way to a pastry shop, she has a car accident in which she was not exactly sober.
Her options are simple: spend 28 days in jail, or 28 days in rehab.
Sandra Bullock has spent some time in a clinic to fully empathize with her role.
The film largely contains drama elements that are interspersed with some comedic twists.
An educational film that aims to make the viewer think.
Especially for people who have to deal with this kind of situation.

Mediocre film in which a woman has to stay in rehab for 28 days. The mix between comedy and drama doesn't really work here and that partly has to do with the subject. Not the best casting choice, although Sandra Bullock is always fun to watch (she doesn't convince as an alcoholic though).

I was in the mood for a not too serious movie tonight, so didn't have high expectations, but it didn't disappoint me at all. Sandra Bullock plays a realistic role and there are even more fun characters in the film. Some scenes are a bit worse/bland, but that also keeps things lighter with the strong scenes that deal with the more serious consequences of addictions (such as the flashback to her childhood, and the children who visit and talk about their experiences).
