Pinto Canyon plot
Pete Childers, a notorious murderer, is appointed deputy to Sheriff Bob Hall. Meanwhile, Hardy Kellar, wanted for a murder, is hiding on the ranch of Fred Jones and his sister Helen, Bob Hall's girlfriend. Childers teams up with Farley, a cattle dealer who doesn't stick to the letter of the law. Childers willfully shoots Kellar if he wants to surrender. In response, Hall gives Childers a beating and fires him. Hall, meanwhile, learns that Fred Jones has ties to cattle thieves, but Helen doesn't believe him and a fight breaks out between the two.
