Extremely annoying clone of The Exorcist. Way too long-winded and apart from some interesting surrealistic images, just skip it. Morricone's music was also of no added value.

1.5*

Comparison with The Exorcist is of course inevitable. Given the year of release (this 1974, Friedkins film 1973), it was shot later and then you automatically think of plagiarism, because the basic story is the same on many points. A great leading role by a certain Mrs. Gravina, boy does this lady go all out. If Linda Blair had an Oscar nomination for her role at the time, Gravina deserved to actually win one. For the rest, quite a few gory and very unsavory scenes, some very lousy (even for that time) special effects, too much effect and a lack of proper tension building. A chaotic but sometimes intriguing story with some well-known characters in supporting roles that make you wonder how they ended up in such a cheap-looking production. It is striking that the finale of this banal film takes place in Rome's world-famous Colosseum.

Strange and downright boring horror film that did absolutely nothing for me. Gravina's main role in particular was too bad for words. The fact that a film like this has remained mainly obscure is something I can't care less about. Nevertheless, director De Martino thought it necessary to stretch the film to 112 minutes while it barely had anything to say. Basic exorcism, clearly to piggyback on the success of the 1973 classic. Only now with lousy acting, no atmosphere and questionable ideas. I've never understood all the cheesy effect with sex either, but that just highlights the fact that this is just a ramshackle B-movie. Gravina's gossip really drove me crazy, so when the movie finally ended I put my hands in the air to celebrate. Points for some nice interior choices, better than I expected from a movie like this. Furthermore, one of the worst (film) products I have seen.
