On paper, this one does indeed come into its own, because after the reveal of Stark and the many screentime he gets, the magic is gone.
Furthermore, there is definitely acting and especially the first half is definitely there. A nice combination between a horror and a kind of macabre fairy tale.

Mediocre film about a writer who wants to stop writing under a pseudonym. The Stephen King version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde has a fascinating premise in itself, but is only weakly developed. The first half is more of a mediocre slasher that is often repetitive. The second part is slightly better, but the film is also too long in the end.

I hadn't seen this movie based on Stephen King's book yet. The story is well built, maybe a bit on the slow side, but that didn't matter. King also wrote a number of stories under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, hence perhaps the idea of letting fantasy and mystery run wild. The climax is successful and has a clever effect where George Stark is plucked completely alive into a skeleton by the sparrows. Although this effect also has some question marks : the sheriff sees Stark, so was this not in his head after all? And what happens to Thad if it were all real? Who's going to believe him? Good acting, but the film lacks the necessary tension and also in terms of atmosphere it remained below par. 6/10
