A Chinese drug war breaks out in Hong Kong and Amsterdam. An old Chinese heroin boss wants out and approaches ex-narcotic Mitchum for a deal. Yep, heroin war movie. The first part takes place mainly in Hong Kong, but in the second part we really head to our own Netherlands: Amsterdam, Utrecht, and Aalsmeer. And a nice finale in the Westland. A great 70s action movie with a Dutch touch.

Seen on Blu-ray from 88Films. With names like director Robert Clouse (Enter the Dragon), action director Sammo Hung, and bad guy stunts by Seven Little Fortunes members Yuen Biao, Mars, and Yuen Wah, I had high hopes for this film, but unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed.

“The Amsterdam Kill makes The French Connection look like a Sunday Picnic.” The Brits sometimes know how to put it nicely, but this film doesn't even come close to The French Connection. A huge sleaze fest starring Grandma Mitchum. Leslie Nielsen and Keyne Luke (Gremlins) only have supporting roles. A deadly boring film told in a very fragmented way under a sleep-inducing, typical 70s soundtrack. One star for the on-location footage shot in Hong Kong and the Netherlands.

"Snow on the Tulips" is the translation of the French title of this action movie , directed by Bruce Lee film director Robert Clouse. It piggybacks somewhat on the success of Friedkin's French Connection. You could therefore safely call it a sort of Dutch Connection... It is about an ex-cop who has to help dismantle a drug cartel and is tipped off by an "insider" (Keye Luke, better known as the Chinese guy who sells the Mogwai in Gremlins)... But due to a leak within the DEA, the operations based on those tips end in failure. Mitchum isn't in his best role here and everything seems geared towards as much action as possible, which is why I didn't really find it boring. In that respect, it is very typical of the seventies. Verdict: not good, but actually not excruciatingly bad either. A quickly forgotten filler.
