A Twist of Sand plot

"Get rich quick! Get dead quicker!"

A former British naval officer, Peace, now earns his living smuggling goods across the Mediterranean. Forced to dump his load after nearly being caught by the Maltese authorities, he is eager to recoup his loss. When a former colleague shows up telling a wild story about smuggling lucrative diamonds out of Southwest Africa, he sees his chance to make a lot of money. Accompanied by a diamond merchant's wife and a few shadowy types, he sets out to get the diamonds. The only problem is that no one trusts each other and the only way to get the diamonds out of the country is to sail through the dangerous waters off the Skeleton Coast, a place few ships have survived. To complicate matters further, Peace has very good reasons for not going there, which has to do with a mission he carried out there during the war.
