Nova Zembla plot
Nova Zembla tells the legendary, true story of the adventurous exploration mission of Willem Barentsz (Derek de Lint), which was recorded at the time by the young crew member Gerrit de Veer (Robert de Hoog). In 16th century Amsterdam, where the ship's crew is assembled, Gerrit de Veer is an assistant to the well-known Reverend Petrus Plancius (Jan Decleir) and, moreover, in love with his beautiful daughter Catharina (Doutzen Kroes). As the great initiator of the voyage of discovery, Plancius secretly decides to send the blue Gerrit on the expedition of Barentsz and Heemskerck (Victor Reinier) to prove that he is worthy of his daughter's love.
