Zan Boko plot

In the culture of the African Mossi, when a child is born, the placenta is buried and that place is called Zan Boko. It symbolizes the connection between people and country: the same country that threatens to be swallowed up by the ever-expanding large cities and Western influences. For example, the farmer Tinga has to deal with a rich businessman who wants to take his land without mercy. And Yabre is a journalist whose uncompromising coverage of Tinga's case is censored by the corrupt government.

My first film from Burkina Faso. Quite a decent film with a reasonable cast. Also quite interesting in terms of content about some cultural customs during pregnancy and birth of a child. In those cultures, superstition is often a common thought when developments occur.

In addition, the focus is on the corruption structures in which wealth and position are decisive in obtaining things. This is on a national scale, where a journalist is called upon by a leading politician, as well as on a micro level between neighbors, where, to the dismay of the rich, money cannot buy everything.

So it's all quite entertaining and the film has a great pace. Not great, but quite OK to pick up if you like African cultures and customs.
