When Takezo is asked by a powerful Shogun to become a teacher and fight the skilled Sasaki Kojiro, Takezo says he will fight Kojiro within a year, but he turns down the job. Instead, he settles on the edge of a quiet village and grows vegetables. At the end of the year, however, the village is attacked by a group of bandits who want to steal the harvest.
