The Art of Catching Lobsters plot

The film is set on the wild coast of North Cornwall where Nick Darke was born and raised. Nick is a fisherman, beachcomber and playwright. His wife actually wanted to make a film about his rehabilitation after a heart attack. But then Nick is diagnosed with terminal cancer and the documentary gradually evolves into a woman's homage to her husband and a chronicle of love, loss and grief. Nick Darke was born in 1948 and was first a theater actor and director. Then he devoted himself to writing. His oeuvre contains more than twenty plays. But besides that, Nick was also a man of the sea all his life. He was a passionate beachcomber and (lobster) fisherman. In the last months of his life he tries to pass on that love for the sea and his skill as a lobster fisherman to his son Henry. The film tells the story of that farewell in a moving, sometimes painful, but at the same time optimistic tone.
