The Change-Up plot

"Who says men can't change?"

Mitch and Dave grew up together and were the best of friends. But that has changed. While Dave is an overworked lawyer, husband and father of three, Mitch has remained single. In Mitch's eyes, Dave has it all: a beautiful wife, children who love him and a good job at a prestigious law firm. However, Dave dreams of Mitch's stress-free life with no obligations. After a night out, however, the worlds of both are turned upside down when they wake up in each other's bodies.

It is of course foolish to judge this film on originality. Because the swap-of-body films are already beyond counting on two hands. In addition, they always end up with characters who appreciate each other more and appreciate their own lives better. You know that, you expect that and that is what you get.

The only question is: can The Change-Up serve up a good joke buffet within this exhausted concept? The answer is yes, yes, yes. Secure! Both Bateman and Reynolds are exceptionally suited as comedy actors, especially in the "what's happening to me again" genre. Bateman has done this so many times that his head has turned a bit. It was therefore very special to see him in a serious role in the great crime series "Ozarks".

You know how it starts, goes and ends, but along the way there are some beautiful bizarre situations, some of which are still very nicely conceived. In the opening scene we see babies' genitals open and exposed (is that still possible today?) and we see a baby's anus opening with a huge stream of baby shit. Funny, yes, but somewhat out of tune with the rest of the film because it (fortunately) does not use simple pipikaka humour.

The face of the law firm's boss Gregory Itzin (best known as Charles Logan from 24) is also worth a separate mention - how it can go from furious, to despair, to of the devil. Nice guy.

It's a nice movie, but nothing special. It's funny, but that's almost all comedies.

Not good, not bad.

Typical Ryan Reynolds comedy with a Ryan Reynolds in a typical Ryan Reynolds role. Little new under the sun, another 20 minutes too long, which makes the weather once again lame.

Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds are doing okay and yes, you can laugh here and there, but this type of movie always stays sick in the same saltless bed..
