The merchant's daughter Constance has wished herself a lark, and her father got this bird from a lion on the condition that he hand him over the first person to greet him in his own house. And let that just be Constance himself. Against her father's will, she goes to the lion and discovers that he is an enchanted prince who can only return to normal through the love of a woman. She stays with him and has a child with him.
