Very boring film with an almost empty story and flat actors who have made this a long sitting. Berry in particular is very disappointing and as a 'star' cannot distinguish himself from the other actors and can therefore make a difference. Most images of the sharks are authentic, which is a plus, but also makes it predictable and boring. Sometimes you feel more like watching a documentary than after a Jaws clone. The story is very sparse and you don't bond with the characters at all, so it would worry me if one of them were attacked. And that while there seems to be enough time to show some more of the characters.

The action it contains is nice but thanks more to the mighty sharks. For the rest, a film to quickly forget.

2*

Dark Tide is, given the score here, not too bad with Halle Berry as bikini protagonist. The big problem, however, is that the film tends towards a rousing finale, but falls seriously short on that front. Like a deflating dinghy sputtering to its end. However, director John Stockwell already had some experience with such films (see eg 'Into the blue'). However, he only shows this during the (fair is fair) stunning underwater images. Perhaps the film would have been better aimed at a different genre...

Halle Berry is great. And maybe this is the only film in which that comes out a bit, because she often seems to end up in a too much underexposed or insignificant role. With all due respect, but for Bondgirl you don't really need to go deep into method acting, just to name a few.

Too bad this is really the worst shark movie ever. You'd hope there's something like karma, that the director and producer get to eat the entire budget in dollar bills in the afterlife, or something horrible like that. Or that Icelandic recipe for shark - it probably tastes about the same.

Other than that, this just seems like the ultimate failure. In any case, I really can't imagine that this script was really planned, it seems like 'let's do this like this, then we'll have another movie'. Didn't really work, that was clear.
