The Pickle plot
"He's caught in a pickle and everyone is watching!"
The career of director Harry Stone is in the doldrums. In an effort to pay off his debts, he throws himself into his latest project: directing a sci-fi film about a flying pickle. He is convinced that he is committing artistic suicide with this, because it is about a group of farm children who grow a giant cucumber that grows into a spaceship. The children take the monster on a trip to the planet Cleveland, where the inhabitants only eat meat. Harry's boss expects the film to be a blockbuster, but Harry thinks this is the final end of his career and seeks support from all those dear to him: from his mother and children to his ex-wives and his much younger Frenchie. mistress. Meanwhile, the moment of the premiere draws closer and he becomes more and more convinced that he has been a bad son, father, husband, lover, partner and filmmaker.
