The U plot

"In the '80s college football was hit by a hurricane"

In the 1980s, Miami was a hotbed of racial unrest, riots and tensions. The turning point in this misery was accompanied by football coach Howard Schnellenberger of the hitherto predominantly white University of Miami recruiting all kinds of black players for his team from some of the fiercest ghettos. Along with the new allure they brought, along with the rise of hip-hop culture, came a renewed interest and great success.
