"Not all films have a happy ending"

Ex-porn star Milos now leads a normal life with his wife and five-year-old son. An unexpected phone call from his ex-colleague Layla, who is still a porn star, changes everything. Milos has financial problems, so Layla introduces him to Vukmir, a mysterious, powerful man within the porn world. He makes Milos an offer he can't refuse; starring in his latest film. This would ensure that Milos would not have to worry about his finances for the rest of his life. But Milos is part of a very bizarre movie...

Retirement porn.

Under the cowardly guise of 'artistic anti-war film' and other socially critical slurs, the director clears his own conscience, although it must be said that the truly shocking scenes rely more on suggestion than on a steady camera hand. Talk about cowardice. That the director of this skillfully shot porn thriller hides behind the nonsense he has come to believe in is even more cowardly. But yeah. The more clipping, the better for the wallet. The fact is that thanks to word of mouth, these kinds of movies always pay for themselves because of their infamous reputation and so the filthy Serb's pension is more than adequately secured.

Umereno.

To be honest, I expected him to be more extreme. More extreme in the sense that many shocking events are barely or not explicitly depicted. Not that this is necessary of course, the ideas are perverse enough already. It is mainly psychological that the film hits hard. Often it's about the suggestive mental violence and less about the real visual. Take the scene with the woman with the pulled teeth. Little to see. Mentally hallucinating, of course, but in Hostel for example you might first of all experience the horror of pulling the teeth in the front row. And again, just because you don't see it, doesn't mean you have to see it.

The scene where the woman is butchered while riding doggies is about the only scene where it gets really explicit, but you see scenes like this in other movies as well. Nowadays people hardly look up to beheadings in action or horror films.
The whole snuff thing is unreal for a normal person. But apparently there really is a market for that on the dark net. Just like the disgusting pedophilia and necrophilia.

I don't know what the director's intention is. Shock? Perhaps... The explanation of the messed up society after the civil war is difficult for me to identify with. So I leave it in the middle. Sometimes the director makes fun of himself. That skull fuck at the end? That's where things really go wrong and he loses me completely...

I don't think there should be limits to filming taboos, as long as it is done with the right approach and intention. Furthermore, technically well-maintained film with excellent editing and camera handling. It must be said.

I rewatched this one again and somehow I found it now, compared to 10-12 years ago, significantly braver and not so explicit at all, also suddenly a lot more long-winded, but of course it remains extremely entertaining 2nd half. In those 12 years, my body and mind have become even more concrete and in the meantime I have also beaten the delightful films of Marian Dora and Lucifer Valentine. Actually, movies seldom shock me, movies like this one, Salò, Caligula, Human Centipede, Guinea Pig, Nekromentik,... have kind of become standard.
