Watched this film again today and it remains a wonderful comedy in which the dog owners are mainly central. The story is very well put together and the execution is often hilarious. The owners (including the gay couple, guy with his bloodhound, the crazy couple with their bumble bee and of course the couple consisting of Eugene Levy and his wife who has dealt with hundreds of men in the past and some again during the story encounter) were great and were also nicely introduced/introduced in the story. The one who steals the show in this film is presenter Buck Laughlin (greatly played by Fred Willard), who provides very opinionated and often very hilarious commentary during the Mayflower dog show. The part at the Mayflower show is the highlight of the film. Even though it has been a while since I last saw this film, it still holds up as a rock.

PS Parker Posey as the beautiful Meg Swan also played very well, her great scene is when she goes to buy a toy for their dog.

Dogs look like their owners, apparently. Something this mockumentary makes good use of. It's a pity that Guest tries a little too quickly and a little too hard to appear comical. Give me apparently normal people who become increasingly crazier in a dry manner instead of these already eccentric types, each with their own quirks. Like the two yuppies in therapy. For example, the not bad scene with the toy further on is a little less funny.

That doesn't change the fact that there will be a few jokes in the run-up, but the real fun starts when the dog show comes up and Guest secretly takes the piss. Jiskefet light when the aunt comes hopping into the arena with great enthusiasm and her pimped poodle. And she's not the only one. The deadly serious jury is also a direct hit. Even funnier is Fred Willard as one of the commentators, who is just chatting away with that smooth, happy face of his. The absolute standout.

Good film about a number of people who participate in a dog show with their dogs. A mockumentary with fun characters filled in by an equally fun cast. Although there is certainly plenty to laugh at, the humor could have been made even drier. All storylines regarding the various characters are completed well, which is partly why it still receives just 3.5 stars.
